Gerard Craughwell (born 22 November 1953) is an Irish independent politician. He was elected to Seanad Éireann on the Cultural and Educational Panel in a Seanad by-election in October 2014.〔 The by-election was caused by the election of Deirdre Clune to the European Parliament. Before entering politics Craughwell was a teacher of IT and Business in Further Education. He was elected to the National Executive of the Teachers' Union of Ireland in 2009, and served as president of the between 2012 and 2014.
